First, search for model auditions in your local area. If you live in a small town, your best opportunity is to search for model auditions in a nearby city. This gives a new model more chances to be seen by acting agents. Acting agents will hold auditions and open houses periodically for people chasing a career as a model. Some of the most popular models acting agents will look for, is a teen model, but every major city has acting agents who may look for more than just a teen model. be a model
Being a model is unlike acting, you do not have to memorize lines and speak in front of rolling cameras and numerous people you do not know to be a good model. However, you must have an organized model portfolio that includes professional model photos. Your model photos must include several headshots and different poses in various fashions. A small runway show in your local mall may lead to an audition as a glamour model. The key to being a good model is to always look your best. Remember, a model comes in a variety of shapes and sizes: teen model, child model, glamour model, preteen model, bikini model, you could even be america's next top model, there are many model auditions and opportunities for a new model. It is your responsibility as a model to select acting agents which are right for you. You can send your picture and resume to acting agents in your area. They will call to schedule an audition with a model only if they are impressed with your picture. Every major city has well-established acting agents. Contact a few different acting agents and get their opinions. acting agents or acting agencies may only be looking for a bikini model, or a male model, or maybe a teen model. Picking acting agents that are well-known and established in the acting industry is the key to a models success! Make sure to ask for references and credentials from acting agents before signing any contracts. We advise you to sign a non-exclusive 1-2 year contract with a local acting agents.

Model Schools
Being a model might seem easy. Although your physical appearance is the first characteristic an agency will consider, a model with training and experience are the most sought after. Taking classes as a model from a professional acting school will train you how to walk down the runway, to turn and pose, and improve your existing acting skills. It will also help you learn the guidelines as a model you will need to follow when you audition for acting agents. Having a portfolio and gaining some basic instruction is important if you are considering being a model as a full-time career.

Photographers
A model must mail a professional acting portfolio package to casting directors holding model auditions, and/or an agency you are trying to attract. A model is required to go through various photo shoots and create a professional model portfolio. Putting together a model portfolio is an absolute MUST for every aspiring model! The model portfolio should include a number of acting photos and a acting resume. Established photographers sometimes have reliable connections for a model, which could lead to a job as a model right away. Your acting resume must include your current contact information, your height, size, weight, measurements, previous training and recent work. Professionals hire a model based on your modeling exposure and experience as a model. The key to your success is to select a well-established photographer that can capture the best features of a model to help create a more exotic you. SEARCH FOR A TALENT AGENCY IN YOUR AREA
There are many different types of agents for different types of talent. The main types are theatrical (Television and Film) and commercial ( for commercials). There are also dance, print, voice-over,etc. Your agent may represent you for one or more of these categories. Being with the same agency for everything is called being "signed across the board." Many actors prefer to have separate agents for different types of work.

Agents get information about auditions for roles, either directly from casting directors and producers or from an insiders-only fax service called "the breakdowns." The breakdowns is a daily faxed list of roles being cast, and they are available only to agents and managers.

For each role, a casting directors will receive hundreds to thousands of resumes and headshots, from which they will narrow the field to the amount that they have the time and/or need to audition. There are so many actors vying for so few roles that talent agents act as the first step in the weeding-out process.
